I am laughing while I am posting this....only because I couldn't think of anything else to post about at the moment.... First Post = Awesome!!!
But because my husband and I can't seem to stay in the same house for more than 12 months at a time.......Do Not Ask!!!......I thought I would post about cleaning those damn carpets that landlords expect to be cleaned like the queen is coming for dinner!!
I have 3 little girls that just love to eat and drink in the living room, on the carpet....need I say more?
Anyways my youngest had found a big bottle of ... drum roll please...............Gatorade.
Awwww......joys of parenthood!!
Well I believe the juice had a good old hour of soaking in to carpet before I found out what had happened. My 2 other daughters tried to cover it up with a pile of clothes and stuffed animals..like I wouldn't ask them about what a mound of animals and clothes were doing in the front room.
We were moving that weekend, so we thought surely it would come out of the carpet when we get the carpet cleaner.......we were very, very, very wrong!!
Didn't even fade!!!
So what do I do? well I looked up good old Pinterest and I found this lovely bit of info here.
All you do is get a spray bottle, mine was a big one, mix equal parts Hot water and Amonia in the spray bottle.
Hot iron, and a white or light color towel.
I used a towel that was close to the color of carpet.
spray the stain with the water/amonia mixture.
Put towel over stain.
Iron away.
Be careful not to put your face over the steam!! its really strong and My eyes were watering like crazy, I would recommend safety goggles and a mask.
I had to do this a few times, but the stain came out, well somewhat!. The carpet is still wet in this picture. I would have taken a picture after it dried, but I wasn't going to wait around for that to happen.
this carpet is pretty light and I am shocked at how well it came out!!
Before After
RED!! Not so RED!!
You can still kind of see the red, but If I wanted to sit and have my eyeballs eaten away by the fumes. I think I could have had the entire stain out.
it was good enough to get the deposit back!!
I have read that you can use clear windex or white vinegar in place of the amonia for the same effect....if you try one let me know!! I would love to see how that turns out!
I have moved into a new house and I have already had to use this in my new home....only 6 more months and we will be moving yet again......for good this time.....well, for at least 4 years anyway! :)
Well this Pinterest post is a Must do!!! It gets old stains out too!!
