S told me about this blog where a girl talks about how she doesn't use shampoo and conditioner. Instead she using baking soda to wash her hair and apple cider vinegar to condition. Intrigued....Yes? Sold...No! However, after the horrible facial mask I owed her! S and L are also doing this experiment with me so I hope they will add pictures to this post :) Here we go...
This is what my hair looked like the day I started.
This regimen calls for: 1 Cup of water + 1 Tablespoon of Baking Soda for the shampoo. For the conditioner the mixture is 1 Cup of water + 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar I had 2 mason jars at my house so that is what I use for the mixtures. I just pour the water on my head a little at a time and massage in as I go. You can adjust the amount of soda and vinegar you use should you need to. Its all about adjusting what you need to fit what your hair likes/needs :)
This is a week later.
I have been washing my hair with these mixtures for a week now. I was every other day. I was prepared for my hair to get super oily and not look pretty for about 2-3 weeks while I was in the transition period but it hasn't happened yet! I say yet because I don't know what is to come but I figure that if it hasn't happened yet it probably won't (I'll keep my finger crossed that it doesn't). A week into it the ends of my hair feel much stronger and they don't feel like they will break in two if I touch them. Also, I think my hair looks shinny and is softer to the touch. Overall I'm SUPER happy that S suggested to give it a try and see what happens!
Side note, if you go to the blog where S saw this she has a lot of suggestions about what not to do (ie. blow dry, towel dry, put your hair in a ponytail, etc.). I have tried my hardest not to do these things. I don't generally use a blow dryer so that was easy to cut out! I did however put my hair up everyday...all day. I think these little tips combined with the soda and vinegar have helped tremendously! I will keep updating with pictures so you can see what is yet to come.
